Obituary for William Rolf (Bill) Nesbitt

William Rolf (Bill) Nesbitt

On June 26, 2018, Bill Nesbitt, 63, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at his home.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents William James (Jr.) and Jeannine Rolfs Nesbitt, grandparents Leslie and Josephine Rolfs (Pap and Geeg) and William and Edith Nesbitt, his first wife and the mother of his children, Jill Dale Nesbitt and many furry friends.

Bill was born on June 7, 1955 in Cleveland, OH. He moved at an early age to Texas and spent his childhood and school years in the Houston area. He attended The University of Houston majoring in marine biology. While that was a passion, his livelihood was in the food service industry. This is what eventually brought him to Knoxville. He spent nearly 30 years working for Sysco, US Foods, IJ Distributors and George Dinwiddie Distributing.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, golf and tennis. He enjoyed spending time at his parents place on Table Rock Lake in Buttermilk Springs, MO pursuing his outdoor passions. He was an amazing cook, and while never professionally trained, could whip up the most incredible meals from seemingly nothing. He loved to eat but especially enjoyed watching others devour the meals he created.

Bill was called “The Dog Whisperer” by many and he was known to rescue and train many fur babies throughout his life. He had such a kind, gentle nature about him which attracted both people and animals alike. He loved helping others, was a great listener and an amazing teacher. And his sense of humor - - oh my!

Bill is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Elaine McClure Nesbitt, daughter, of whom he was so proud, Olivia Dale Nesbitt-Mogush and husband Travis, son William "Riley" Nesbitt, grandsons - the joys of his life - William “Lincoln” Mogush (Noodlehead) and Tristan Andrew Cantillo, all of Knoxville; brother Jim Nesbitt (Vicki), nephews Jonathan (JJ) and Matt Nesbitt of TX and special love and friendship from the McClure family. His poochies Savannah, Lady and Tater will miss him terribly.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Joseph Meyer and special nurse, Angela Cole from East TN Radiation Oncology as well as the Covenant Hospice team for their amazing, compassionate care, specifically Shanda Miller and including Tina Lopez and Cynthia Floyd.

Bill attended All Saints Catholic Church. Per his wishes, he will be cremated. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at Bill's home on Saturday, July 7th from 1-5 PM. Please stop by to share your favorite “Bill Story”. If donations are desired, Bill requested that they are given to The Humane Society of the TN Valley.

Bill will be forever loved and always missed.
