Obituary for Barbara Boss Ransom

Barbara Boss Ransom age 87, of Farragut, formerly of Monroe, Georgia passed away Sunday morning, January 21, 2018 surrounded by her family. Barbara was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and loved anything outdoors but especially the beach and her beloved Tennessee mountains. She was a long time member of the Garden Club in both Atlanta, Georgia and later in Knoxville. She loved reading and could always be found with a treasured book nearby. Her hobbies included collecting antiques mostly focusing on china and teapots. She loved vintage aprons, porcelain birds and milk glass. Her home was filled with her beautiful collections for all to enjoy. But as much as Barbara loved her flowers and home her main focus and joy in life was her beloved husband Bill and being a mother to her six children and later to her twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William (Bill) Vaughn Ransom Sr; Mother, Frances Lucille Mobley Boss; Father, Sanders Lamar Boss; and brother, Charles Lamar Boss. Barbara is survived by her children, Peggy Frances (Larry) Wages of Athens, Georgia, Nancie Nelah (Bill) Rogers of Cosby, TN, William Vaughn (Beverly) Ransom Jr. of Navarre, Florida, Robert “Bob” David (Kathy) Ransom of Florence, Arizona, Barbara “Betty” Elizabeth (Mickey) Morrison of Farragut, Jeffery Lamar (Diane) Ransom of Covington, Georgia; grandchildren, Josh (Christy) Wages, Christopher Wages, Brad Wages, Hans (Jean) Rogers, Sadie Rogers, Teddy (Michael) Young, Will Ransom III, Franklin Morrison, Breeden Morrison, Leland (Eric) Blackburn, Tyler Ransom and Travis Ransom; great grandchildren, Sarah and Lucy Wages, Aidan, Franklin and Kemper Rogers, Bobbie and Hollis Morrison and Caleb Blackburn and Emily Young; Sister, Betty Jean Boss McKenzie, Sister-in-law, Phyllis Boss and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 26 at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. with Rev. Larry Trotter officiating. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. on Friday at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 East Gov John Sevier Highway for graveside services.
