Obituary for Evelyn Lucille (Mama Lu) Thompson Norris

Evelyn Lucille (Mama Lu) Thompson Norris, age 94, of Knoxville passed away December 31, 2017.

Mama Lu graduated from Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis in 1944 and Loyola University in New Orleans, with a Bachelors of Arts Degree. She also attended Tulane University. She served in the U S Army Cadet Nursing Corp. Mama Lu was a Registered Nurse and worked at Oshsner Foundation Hospital and later at Charity Hospital in New Orleans on The Neurosurgery and Orthopedic floors. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. Mama Lu loved cats, reading, travel and gardening and the fine arts. She traveled Worldwide to see historical antiquities. She was a very kind and generous to her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hubert Norris who was from Chattanooga; parents, Carl Thompson who was from Russell Kentucky and Josephine Evelyn Hutchinson Thompson who was from Harriman; sister, Janet Calia; brother, Kenneth Thompson.

Mama Lu is survived her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Chris Romero of Knoxville; grandchildren, Paul (Mickey) Romero, Mark (Jessica) Romero; her loving Romero family.

A private graveside service will be held at Edgewood Cemetery.

The family would like to express appreciation and gratitude to the nursing staff at Westmoreland Health, for providing tender and loving care during her stay there
