Obituary for Linda Louise Moss

On the evening of December 3, 2017, the journey of Linda Louise Moss in mortality was completed when she died in her Knoxville home in the arms of her husband. Linda was 62 years old.
Linda was born June 1, 1955 in LaFollette, TN to Oscar and Mildred Riggs Asher. She was the oldest of four children which included younger siblings Brenda and twins Darlene and Darryl. Her early years were spent in LaFollette and Arjay, Kentucky. After graduating from Bell County High School (Pineville, KY) in 1973, Linda lived for several years in California before returning to Tennessee to attend Lincoln Memorial University from which she graduated in 1979 with a degree in mathematics. In 1987 she was awarded a Master’s Degree in curriculum and instruction, also from Lincoln Memorial. By 1992, Linda had completed course work at East Tennessee State University for a Ph.D in education administration and supervision; however, with a change in academic interests, she did not complete that program.
For over 20 years, Linda taught various math courses (including AP calculus, Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry) at numerous schools including Bell County High School; Southeast Community College in Cumberland, KY; Sevier County High School, Kingston High School, Oak Ridge High School (1995—2005); Tusculum College in Morristown; Strayer University in Knoxville; and Pellissippi State Community College (2008—2011).
Linda also had an interest in real estate and for 4 years was an associate broker for several real estate companies in the local area. In this capacity she was recognized as a “Million Dollar Sales Club” member.
One of her great enjoyments in life was cheering for University of Tennessee football and basketball teams. For several years she managed a concession stand at Neyland Stadium primarily for the excitement and social enjoyment of UT football.
For a number of years she worked as a part time sales associate at Proffitt’s Department Store (1995—2002) and Dillard’s Department Store (2010—2013). Linda loved working at these two stores which allowed her to meet so many people for whom she could assist, and, she could keep up with the latest fashions!
Linda was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and over the years served in numerous church callings. Prior to the onset of her illness, she was serving as a church librarian, serving as an LDS Temple ordinance worker, and as a volunteer in the LDS Bishop’s Storehouse,
She is survived by her husband, James Moss, Colonel, USAF, Retired; son, Casey; stepson, Jason Moss; stepdaughter, Lauren Moss; mother, Mildred Asher; sisters, Brenda Asher and Darlene Ellis; brother, Darryl Asher; uncle and aunt, Charlie and Cedell Riggs along with nephews and nieces and a multitude of friends whom she loved and adored. She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Herbert Asher, and daughter Amber.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, December 15, at Click Funeral Home, 11915 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, December 16, a funeral service will be held at the LDS Church, 11837 Grigsby Chapel Road, Knoxville, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Prior to the service the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m.
Linda loved everyone she ever came in contact with always giving them wonderful smile, a sincere hug, a kind word. She was, and remains, a celestial star!
