Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Campbell

Mary Wittenberger Campbell, age 96, of Farragut , died Thursday afternoon at Little Creek Sanitarium. Mary was born in Garden City, Kansas, to Emil and Mabel Wittenberger. The family moved to Nampa, Idaho during the Dust Bowl,and Mary was raised there and graduated from the College of Idaho.

Mary moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for the War Department as a code breaker. It was there that she met and married Wason Campbell.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Wason Gardner Campbell.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sally and Ron Smith of Farragut, Priscilla and David Lee of Brentwood, TN, Tim and Cynthia Campbell of Lewes, DE and Alice Ireland and Wayne Juhnke of Oak Park, IL; grandchildren and spouses, Amy and Michael Rainwater, Jill and Chad Thomas, Ginny Lee and Brian Attaway, Rose Campbell, Elena Campbell, and Hesper Juhnke and Drew Baumgartner; great-grandchildren Brady, Kyle, Emily, Zachary, Colby, and Lucy Mae. She is also survived by her sister Caryl Ladd of Beaverton, OR.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28 at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with Rev. Greg Tucker officiating.

The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to Faith Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church or to Autism Delaware POWER Program.
