Obituary for Raj Kumar Gupta

Raj Kumar Gupta passed away on October 1, 2018, at Summitview of Farragut in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Mr. Gupta was born in the state of Punjab in India in 1940. His strong work ethic and talents earned him a BA with Honors in Math followed by a degree in Civil Engineering from Thapar Engineering College in Patiala, India. He continued his education on two other continents—in Delft, The Netherlands, for a year, and went on to earn an MS in Structural Engineering from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. His adventurous spirit and love for traveling and exploring new places took him to many places both for pleasure and also for work. Mr. Gupta worked for various engineering companies and Department of Energy contractors in Illinois, Washington, Michigan, and Tennessee. He also worked in India, and in Perth, Australia.

Mr. Gupta was a deeply religious person and truly believed in helping people in need. He was President of the Hindu Community Center and Temple for two terms.

Along with his wife, Mona Gupta, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Nitin and Shamira Gupta; daughter-in-law, Namrata Gupta; five grandchildren; and many loving relatives and friends.
