Obituary for Margaret Louise Hallquist

Margaret Louise Hallquist, age 70, Godly wife and mother, died Thursday, October 25,

Margaret was born in Middlesboro, KY. Her parents, Lorne and Virginia Brown, were missionaries to Africa and the Middle East and she liked to tell the story of going to a different school every year. She graduated from Bryan College in 1971 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and in 1977 from Wake Forest with a Master of Arts in English Education. In 1979 she married the love of her life and moved to Oklahoma where two of her children, Kathryn and Peter, were born. Margaret and family moved to Oak Ridge in 1984. Son Daniel joined the family a little over a year later. Margaret loved being a wife and mother, eventually homeschooling her children and continued on to become the Homeschool Administrator for CAK where she thoroughly enjoyed working with each family. She retired in 2014. She was a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing the piano and loved singing both in the church choir and on occasion with the Oak Ridge Chorus.

Margaret was preceded in death by her son Peter (1985). She is survived by her husband, John Hallquist; her two children, Kathryn Hallquist and Daniel Hallquist, both of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Martha Abu-Ragheb of Amman, Jordan; Rebecca Schipper of Havelock, NC; and Dorothy Brown of Corpus Christi, TX.
