Obituary for Lucille Tumaneng (Lucy) Ford

Lucy Tumaneng Ford, age 86, of Knoxville passed away Wednesday morning, October 10, 2018 at her home.

Her faith in God was strong and in the end, her legacy is best remembered by her true faith to Jesus Christ that guided her life with courage and determination while raising a family with four children. Lucille Tumaneng Ford (Lucy) was born on February 10, 1932 to parents, Maxima and Eusebio Tumaneng. Born in the beautiful northern coastal city of Laoag, Philippines, Lucy was the second of a family of what would become eight children. Known to few, Lucy was much older than most believed. With her stunning looks and style, she was referred to by many of her family and friends as the Filipino Marilyn Monroe, a pretense she pulled off with ease.

While a young girl, she traveled alone to Hawaii with little more than a shoebox with a change of clothes.
Sadly her first marriage did not last, but her determination and creative business sense helped her to continue to provide for her children. As her life journey continued she met the love of her life, Elmer Ford, and the family eventually relocated to Knoxville where a fourth child was added to the family.

Throughout her life Lucy faced and overcame adversity, instilling in her children the will to never give up and to always give thanks for everything that was received. She was a loving mother and a devoted wife whose courage, creativity and love will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her children; Llewellyn Polangco, Chris Polangco, Kathy Higgins and husband Dan, Norman Ford and wife Marjorie; grandchildren Lara Polangco Potter, Nathan Ford, Ellen Ford, and Keegan Ford; and five great grandchildren. She is mourned by her surviving siblings; brother Florencio & wife Flora; brother Fabian; and sister Esfelina all from Laoag, Philippines.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 15 from 11-12 PM at Click Funeral Home Middlebrook Chapel in Knoxville, Tennessee. Burial to follow at 2:00 at East Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery on John Sevier Highway.
