Obituary for James K. "Jim" Lyons

James K. “Jim” Lyons, age 82, of Knoxville, formerly of Urbana, Ohio went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, January 24, 2019. Jim was of the Catholic faith. He was a veteran of the U S Marine Corp with eight years of service and retired from the United States Army after twenty years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Katherine Patricia Dennis (Kathy) Lyons; son-in-law, James Garrett; parents, James Lyons and Gladys Sundheimer Lyons. Jim is survived by his children, Joi Garrett, Sandi Davidson and husband Bill, Michael Lyons and wife Debbie, Beverly Smith and husband Joe, all of Knoxville; 19 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Beverly Lyons Dickey; brother, Joseph Lyons; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. on Monday at the East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery, 2200 East Gov. John Sevier Highway for graveside services with Father John Dowling officiating. Full military honors will be conferred by the U S Army and the East Tennessee Veteran’s Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HonorAir Knoxville, www.honorairknoxville.com
