Obituary for Freddie Lee Cannon

Freddie Lee "Freddie" Cannon went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 27, 2018 at the age of 81 after a very brief illness.

Freddie was born March 30, 1937, and was a life-long member of Concord United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Farragut High School and attended the University of Tennessee as well as worked for the University's Mathematics Department, where she gained the attention and praise of the Department Professors. She later worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority until her retirement to be by the side of her husband, Bill, in his leadership roles at Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon.

Freddie and Bill loved to travel together throughout their marriage, embracing the many relationships gained through personal and business trips. They were also devoted to, and appreciative of, the lifetime relationships in their Special Studies Sunday School Class. Freddie lived her commitment to serving others through many venues including her Honorary Associate role in Knoxville Ossoli.

Most importantly, Freddie treasured her relationship with Jesus Christ, and was passionately caring for her husband, and her entire family. She was also tireless in looking after the needs of everyone she came in contact with. And that is the foundation of Freddie's legacy: her faith, her husband, family, and caring for others with that "smile" that was God-given. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin E. and Mildred E. Smith.

She is survived by the true love of her life, husband, William H. "Bill" Cannon; daughters, Paige and her husband Ralph Mayercik, Wendy and her husband Billy Martin; sons, Harold and his wife Angie Cannon, Keith Cannon and Ken Cannon; grandchildren, Lauren (Seth) Dahl, Rachel (Ethan) Norman, Crissy (Shane) Glarrow, Martin Winfrey, Jessica (Cody) James, Amanda Martin, and Connor Mayercik; and 7 great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be held on Monday, July 30 at Pleasant Forest Cemetery. On Tuesday, July 31 visitation with the family will begin at 10:00AM at Concord United Methodist Church, culminating with a Celebration of Life service at 11:00AM.The Special Studies Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers.

Flowers are welcomed at the Church, with memorial gifts honoring Freddie's life to be made to the Knoxville Ossoli Circle.

The Family is deeply appreciative of the support provided by Freddie and Bill's friends, caregivers at NHC Farragut, the pastoral staff at Concord United Methodist Church, and the Intensive Care Unit Team at Tennova Turkey Creek. The Family is especially grateful for the love and care provided over the many years by Michele Nishida who truly has been and will always be a member of the Cannon Family.
