Obituary for Sinforosa Palmares Aujero

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant!” On Friday, June 8th, 2018 Sinforosa Palmares Aujero heard these words as she entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though “Sinforosa” was her given birth name in the Philippines, once she relocated to East Tennessee, she became effectually known to most as “Ms. Rosa” and to a beloved few “Granny”.

Rosa was born in the Philippines on July 18, 1928. In 1983, she relocated to East Tennessee to live with her oldest daughter who had previously immigrated to the United States. Soon after, her remaining 3 children immigrated to the United States to be near their mother.

Rosa accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior through the ministry of David and Uldine Steffy in Iloilo City, Philippines in 1978 and became a active part of the Filipino youth ministry. Rosa’s love for her Christ permeated her entire family. With her Bible and “little blue song book”, Rosa shared the love of Jesus with her family and friends resulting in four generations of Christians. Rosa has been an active member of Temple Baptist Church since January of 1985.

Rosa loved to garden. Even in her early 80’s, Rosa was still working in her little garden. She manually tilled, weeded, trimmed and harvested her picturesque garden. But her true joy was sharing the fruits of her labor. She lovingly made Filipino spring rolls for her family. Anytime she would see her family, she would give a frozen packet of these spring rolls ready to be cooked. She was also a seamstress and spend many hours mending clothes for her friends and family. Rosa lived with the heart of a servant and gave all she had.

Rosa is preceded in death by her husband, Mamerto Aujero, Sr. (a Filipino Scout for the U.S. Army during WW2) and her parents, Simplicio Palmares and Anunciacion Espino.

Rosa is survived by her children: Eleanor P. Gibson of Knoxville, Violeta Giocardin, Juna Aujero, and Mamerto Aujero, Jr., all of Maryville and her beloved son-in-laws, Charles Gibson and Elmer Giocardin. Granny is survived by her grandchildren: Brian Gibson with his wife, Lori; Emily Goodbread (Gibson) with her husband, Justin; Samuel Giocardin, Marie Ruth Giocardin and her great-grandchildren: Alex Gibson, Jadon Gibson, Elayna Gibson, Savanah Goodbread, Justus Goodbread, and Jude Goodbread. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service commencing at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12th, 2018 will be held at Temple Baptist Church in the Curtis Hudson Center Chapel at 1700 W. Beaver Creek Dr., Powell, TN 37849. Visitation for family & friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. before the service in the Curtis Hudson Center Chapel at Temple Baptist Church. Reverend Clarence Sexton and Mr. David Rosser of Temple Baptist Church will provide the eulogy.

The burial service will commence on Wednesday, June 13th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery of Knoxville, TN in the Fountain City Community. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the Temple Baptist Academy of Powell, TN.
