Obituary for Robert "Bobby" Clinton Price

Robert “Bobby” Clinton Price, age 74 of Knoxville was welcomed home by His Savior early Thursday morning, May 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Bobby was born on July 25th, 1943 to Eulis and Besse Price. He grew up in Knoxville, was a member of Meadow View Baptist Church, graduated from Young High School, and attended college at the University of Tennessee until he began his began his successful and lifelong career in construction as a mechanical contractor. His work ethic and dedication to excellence was unmatched in all he did his entire life. And it was evident early in his childhood when at seven years old he began his first job working a newspaper route in the Island Home Pike area before school in the dark. One of his last projects was overseeing the renovation of the The University of Tennessee College of Law. And though his career was in construction, he was born with and naturally gifted in so many skills which were evident in building homes, his garden, and caring and breeding animals. He was an avid animal lover. He especially loved Golden Retrievers. He thought you could tell a lot about a person by how they treated animals. He spent most of his life outdoors professionally and personally. He loved being on the water whether it be the lake or the ocean and taught many how to water ski. He loved watching football. Especially, SEC and Farragut High School. His greatest joy was being with his family and watching his children and grandchildren do what they love. But the thing that mark’s the life of Bobby Price the most was his big and generous heart. Especially, his heart for the least of these. He radically, cheerfully, and consistently gave to his family, friends, and anyone he came in contact with that was in need. He has given to and supported hundreds of orphans, organizations, etc. And the most beautiful thing about his giving is that it was done mostly in secret. He did not have a tight grip on this world or his possessions. He worked to provide for his family and care for others. He lived out of a heart that knew “We brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world” (1 Tim. 6:7). And without question, his greatest gift and accomplishment was being married to Gloria. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eulis Price and Bessie Henderlight Price; brothers, Ed Price and Bill Price; sisters, Margaret Price Vaughn and Edna Price Willard. Bobby is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gloria Smiddy Price; daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Luke Leonard of Birmingham, Alabama; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Kate Price of Birmingham, Alabama, Kris and Dena Emery of Knoxville; grandchildren, Price, Caroline and Sarah Grace Leonard, Barrett, Tye, Emma Kate and Annie Price, Brett, Lauren and Kate Emery; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Doug Tillie of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law.
