Obituary for Ralph Douglas Perrigo

Ralph Douglas Perrigo, age 77, of Knoxville, TN, passed away at Park West Medical Center on September 2nd, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Milton Perrigo and Lucy Cothron Perrigo; sisters Pauline East, Lorene Woods, Hester West, Hazel Cooke and A. P. Perrigo. Survivors include: Wife of 56 years, Linda Arleen Perrigo, Children: Justin Douglas Perrigo (Cori) (Surprise, Arizona); Kindra Perrigo-Sorrow (Chuck) (Murfreesboro, TN); Matthew Edward Perrigo (Smyrna, TN); Mark Dwayne Perrigo (Thai-Khue) (Chantilly, VA); Grandchildren: Justin, James, Justin, Claire, Jack, Julia, Lily and Rachel. Siblings: R.C. (Peggy); Lucille (J.B.), Billy (Faye), Randall and Jimmy; several nieces and nephews.

He was of the Baptist faith and active at First Baptist Church of Concord, for many years, and Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for 12 years. He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Lafayette, TN. Ralph had served as an AWANA leader and usher in previous churches in the DC area. He retired at 38 years as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with assignments in Detroit, Michigan, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, FBI Headquarters, Washington, D.C., Washington Field Office and Knoxville, TN. He retired in October, 1998. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, golfing, traveling, and the outdoors. Upon retirement, he owned Ralph D. Perrigo and Associates, a private investigations firm from 1998 until 2004. He was also a Contract Investigator for Omniplex International Services, Chantilly, VA, involved in conducting security background investigations for the Federal Government. Since 1998, he has been a member of the Society of Former FBI Special Agents and held the Chairman’s position for two years with the East Tennessee Chapter. He was also a Trustee for the Society of Former FBI Special Agents Foundation for three years and a former member of the Tennessee Professional Investigators Association.

Since retirement from the FBI, he has been a volunteer for Mission of Hope, Knoxville, TN; an organization which ministers year-round to the physical and spiritual needs of the less fortunate residing in the Appalachian area of TN, KY, and VA. He was the Chairman of the Chick-fil-A/Mission of Hope Golf Classic for the past 13 years.

Family will receive friends at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel 3pm-6pm Sunday and 10am-11am Monday with Funeral Service to immediately follow at 11am (EST). Graveside service will be 3pm (CST) Monday at Macon County Memorial Gardens.
