Obituary for Joann Gregory Battle

Joann Gregory Battle, of Farragut, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, July 8, 2018.

Joann was born in Memphis, Tennessee on December 12, 1935. She was a member of First Baptist Concord, where she previously taught Sunday School. Joann was past President of the Second District Dental Auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her grandson, Corporal Ryan C. McGhee, who died in 2009 serving his country in Iraq. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Louis V Gregory and Elizabeth Wilson Gregory; three sisters and a brother.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years and the love of her life, Dr. William C. (Bill) Battle DDS; daughters, Sherrie Battle McGhee, Christy B. Kennedy; son, Scott Battle all of Knoxville; grandchildren, SSG Zachary McGhee (Crystal) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Renee Patton of Knoxville; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:45 p.m on Wednesday in the Chapel of First Baptist Concord with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Steve Peek officiating.

A private graveside service will be held at the East Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Concord Missions, 11704 Kingston Pike, Farragut, Tennessee 37934 or to Jews for Jesus, www.jewsforjesus.org.
