Obituary for James David "Jim" "J B " Burns

James David Burns, “Jim”, “JB” to his friends, passed away on Monday evening, March 5th at Parkwest Medical Center.

He is preceded in death by his Mother: Bonnie Sue (White) Bounds; his Father: William James Burns.

His survivors include his life partner of 32 years, Rhonnda Cloinger of Knoxville, T.; his children, Timothy Burns, Tiffeny (Cornelius) Lovelace of Jonesboro, AR. and Katie (Larry) Edlemon of Bono, AR; sister, Gayle (Mark) Little of Byhalia, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Devon & Emma; niece, Ashley; half brother, Mark Bounds of Wiseman, Arkansas.

Jim will be remembered as a loving, caring partner, brother, father, and friend by all who knew him. His gift of conversation enabled him to share through storytelling and humor. He enjoyed helping others, making them laugh, feel good about themselves, and was a wealth of knowledge. Jim loved being a mate on the Trader Joe’s crew which enabled him to interact with people on many different levels. Having developed a keen respect and knowledge of guns & knives while in the military, he was able to share his passion & knowledge of them through his work at SIA. He had friends of all types, whether they were his social buddies, his neighbors, his crew mates at Trader Joe’s, or his friends at Parkwest Cardiac Rehab. As a veteran, he enjoyed sharing his stories and journeys with other vets as well.

Jim was an avid animal lover, having had a deep respect for them as companions and friends. This was displayed through the care & love he had for his & Rhonnda’s beloved cats: Siena, Sydney, Spinner, Atticus, Rango and Rascal who are already missing his affection for them. Jim’s spirit, wisdom, love, and laughter, along with his many unique sayings will live in the hearts & minds of those who knew him as he departs from this physical realm.

Rhonnda and family members would like to thank everyone for their expressions of sympathy, prayers, and words of sincere care & concern. Jim loved you all – from his longtime friends, his friends in cardiac rehab., to his mates at Trader Joe’s and coworkers at SIA. Rhonnda would also like to thank all the EMS responders and the emergency room staff at Parkwest Medical Center for their treatment and care of Jim and the care & concern they showed to her.

A receiving of friends and family will begin at 4 p.m. on March 17th at Click’s Funeral Home MIddlebrook Chapel with a formal memorial/roasting of Jim beginning at 4:30.
