Obituary for Inga Marie Himelright

Inga Marie Himelright, a Senior Vice President at University of Tennessee Medical Center, died peacefully in Knoxville, TN on Dec. 31, 2017 at the age of 60.
Inga is survived by her mother, Elinor Marie Himelright of Star Tannery, VA; her brother, Von Rubben Himelright of Star Tannery, VA; her son, Andrew Daniel Pharaoh of Chicago, IL; her life partner, Fred Schneck of Knoxville, TN; and her ex-husband, James Pharaoh of Knoxville, TN. She is preceded in death by her father Ray Ruben Himelright of Star Tannery, VA .
Inga was born on January 22, 1957 in Newport News, VA to Ray and Marie Himelright. She graduated from Stephens College with a degree in psychology before attaining her Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Florida in 1986. Inga subsequently completed her internship and residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. Here she married James Pharaoh in 1986 and had one son, Andrew, in 1990. The family moved to Knoxville in 1991, where Inga began working for the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine before taking a position at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in 1994. She continued to work for the University of Tennessee Medical Center until 2005 when she took a position with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee in both Knoxville and Chattanooga, TN. Inga went on to complete a Master’s in Business in Administration from the University of Tennessee in 2007, followed by her return to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where she served as a Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer since 2013.
In addition to her many professional accomplishments, Inga was known as a kind and passionate individual who loved listening to and helping others. She truly valued others, always taking the time to connect with patients, family members, and friends in need of comfort, compassion, or a shoulder to cry on. As a mother, Inga is remembered as a loving, thoughtful, and patient mother who always encouraged her son to pursue his goals.
A remembrance service is scheduled for 5:00pm on Monday January 8, 2018 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center Auditorium. Pastor Steve Sexton and Pastor George Doebler will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Inga's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the University of Tennessee Cancer Institute (www.utmedicalcenter.org). The family would like to thank Doctor John Bell, Doctor Robert Bertoli, Doctor David Aljadir, Doctor Jano Janoyan, Doctor Janakiraman Subramanian, Patricia Taylor, Uneva Shaw, and all of the other many loving friends and members of the Tennessee Medical Center family for the comfort they brought Inga over these past months.
