Obituary for Dona Sue Beaver Bean

Dona Sue Beaver Bean, age 65, was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and Savior on September 20. She was a woman of extreme faith, values, and strength. Her highest priority was always her children: daughter- Cortny and grandson Braxton, son-Adam and his long-time sweetheart Courtney Washburn. She also leaves her brothers Fred Beaver (Rosemary), their children Kimberly and Todd, and Phil Beaver (Cynthia) and their children, Holly, Stephen (deceased) and Rebekah.
Dona was very active in the Karns Community in many giving roles. She was extremely active in Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church, being a preschool teacher, chairing the Preschool Board, being a youth Sunday School teacher, a member of the Church Council, and a member of the Praise Band. Her family even mass-produced homemade rolls for the BRUMC Community Thanksgiving Dinners. She retired this year from Karns Elementary School after 20 years of serving as the PAC (Personal Accountability Classroom) teacher, leading the Character Counts program, and being involved with the Backpack Club for children to have meals on weekends, all while driving a school bus before and after the school day. Although jokingly called “Mean Dona Bean,“ students encountering her felt her fierce concern and respect for them. One of her greatest sources of pride was being in charge of and facilitating the Mentoring Program at KES, which involved working to find community members to be positive role models to children and coordinating this program with both BRUMC and Karns Church of Christ, creating a valuable legacy. Dona’s directness and piercing stare were trademark and backed by a huge heart full of love for the recipient. Her raucous, gut laugh and unique sayings “Donaisms” will leave a huge hole in the Karns Community and all of those who love her.
Her family will be receiving friends on Friday night, September 29 at Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church, 7753 Oak Ridge Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37931, from 5 to 7 pm immediately followed by a service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to these two non-profits: The Restoration House [http://therestorationhouse.net/donate-online/] and Appalachia Service Project [https://www.asphome.org/donate]. Click Funeral Home and Cremations – Middlebrook Chapel is serving the Bean family.
