Obituary for Charles "Charlie" Wesley Turner Jr.

Charles "Charlie" Wesley Turner, Jr - 67, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on December 11, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Charlie was born in Hopewell, Virginia to Charles Wesley Turner, Sr. and Bunny Sue Kelso Turner on December 3, 1950.

Charlie truly loved life. He worked for American Airlines where he was able to enjoy his passion for flying and traveling. He loved vacationing at the beach. He was always fascinated with astronomy and history and enjoyed a lively debate. Charlie had a great laugh and a ready smile. He loved music and dancing and was always up for a game of pool. He was a life-long Yankees fan and all-around sports fan. A few of his favorite past-times were sipping on a cup of coffee and reading a book and enjoying a great meal with his family. He was brave and strong and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra Watts Turner; son, Eric Turner; daughter, Donna Turner Piercey; siblings and their families, Mark and Bronwen Turner, Kathryn and Ray Heath, and Stephen and Laura Turner; mother-in-law, Dorothy Watts; sister-in-law, Linda and husband, Gary Yurko; nieces and nephews and their families, Rachel Jonas and her sons, Suttree and Micah, Rebekah Leatherwood, Micah and Jessica Turner, Matthew Turner, Christian and Sierra Turner and their daughter Verity Shay, Tanya and Patrick Le, Jonathan and Lindsay Heath, Michelle and Mark Sharrow, Lyndsay and Carl Champion and their children, C.J. and Olivia, and Kristin and Justin Bigford. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Wesley Turner, Sr. and Bunny Sue Kelso Turner, and sister, Sharon Turner.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Thompson Cancer Survival Center Foundation. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the West Park Cancer Support Group and Amedisys Home Healthcare.

The family will receive friends and family from 2 to 3 on Sunday, December 17th at the Click Funeral Home Middlebrook Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. with Reverend Sam Polson of West Park Baptist Church officiating.
