Obituary for Ann Elizabeth Snead Pankey

Ann Elizabeth Snead Pankey, age 84 of Knoxville, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, February 1, 2018.

She was born in McKenzie, TN on February 15, 1933. She attended and graduated from McKenzie High School and Bethel College. As a student at Bethel, she played basketball and earned the name “Hot Shot” and also met Chuck, the love of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Concord since 1970 and volunteered at the church daycare program and Vacation Bible School. She retired from working for Dr. Jerome McKenzie, Summit Medical Group. Ann was an avid UT Football and Lady Vol Basketball fan. She also loved to travel and had a special green thumb in her gardening.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Gertrude Snead and brother, Bill Snead.

Ann is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Charles (Chuck) Pankey; children, Karen (Tony) Moore; Keith (Robin) Pankey; Kim Jetton; Kay (Glen Peterson) Young; grandchildren, Rusty (Carolyna) Shinpaugh, Lindsey (Baker) Jones, Lacey Pankey, Taylor Jetton, Elliott (Emily) Jetton, Avery Jetton, Kristin (Ryan Lund) Young, Lexi Young, Shelby and Tyler Peterson; great grandchildren, Kyleigh Shinpaugh, Ariana Clarke, Gabriel McMahan, Luna Lund; sister, Lucy Snead. sister-in-Law, Agnes Snead; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 3rd in the Chapel of First Baptist Concord with a Celebration of Life to follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Steve Peek officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 5th for graveside service at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children’s Ministry of First Baptist Concord, 11704 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37934.
